Fernando's Political Corner - My Contribution to Fight Populism

The last couple of days, I have been reading messages on social media from Trumps followers, all of them defending him against the criticism from Mr. Khizr Khan, the father of a fallen Muslim soldier, while servicing this country in Iraq. I am wondering if all of Trump supporters even understand the reasons this man, comes from out of his private life and exposed himself and go against Mr. Trump. In a country where speaking against muslin is not only ok, but somewhat fashionable. The reason this man did it, is because he felt offended that Mr. Trump not only insulted his culture, but also the memory of a fallen soldier which happened to be his son. Who gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting for the freedom we all enjoy and defending the constitution of the United States of America. Hence the reason he also challenged Mr. Trump by asking him if he has even read the US constitution. If that along did not move you, and made you wonder why not only Mr. Khan attacked Mr Trump, but also the continue attack from Democrats and Republicans alike against Mr. Trump for the same issue, then you will need to pay attention and follow the news (Other than Fox news) and listen carefully to Mr. Trump's messages. I will give you my thoughts on this issue by making a correlation between Mr. Trump and the former Venezuela president Hugo Chavez, a correlation attempt made by Miss Venezuela 1984 Carmen Maria Montiel Avila, whom I have a great deal of respect, but unfortunately she was defending Mr. Trump, as she took offense to Mr. Khan's criticism. Carmen Maria respectfully I disagree with you in this issue. Now that I have publicly announced that I disagree with Carmen Maria, I am wondering if she has been listening carefully to Mr. Trump messages? Maybe she has, but I need to understand what part of Mr. Trump she is in agreement with? Why you may ask. The reason is because here is what I have been listening from Mr. Trumps speeches and his constant tweets thus far. Just like Chavez, Mr. Trump’s messages are designed to divide and insert hate into the political discussion of the USA, and he is using it very effectively as a weapon, and for his own benefit. He has insulted Latinos, Blacks, Women, LBGT members, and when he is criticized back, then just like Chavez, he does not like it and attacks back. Here is why I am wondering why Carmen Maria is supporting Mr. Trump. Now, Mr. Trump is entitled to defense himself, in any way he feels is fair. However, before he does it, he ought to evaluate that he is a political figure, who happen to running for the office of the president of the most powerful nation in the world, The United States of America, and that his statements are subject of criticism, are being watched, and read around the world, and if he mades a mistake, he should be held accountable. Also he should ask himself before he tweets or retweets something, or makes a comment publicly to the media, if what he is about to say could be misinterpreted for lacking character of an individual that could be the next president of the United States? … hold that though for a moment. Let’s continue on with the correlation between Mr. Trump and Chavez. Trump is fascinated with Vladimir Putin, a communist dictator in Russia, who governs by intimidating his people and his neighbors. Chavez, was also fascinated with a similar persona, that of Fidel Castro. More comparisons, Trump is feuding with all his “perceived” adversaries included the leadership of the Republican Party. Respected leaders like the current Speaker of the House, Mr. Paul Ryan. Also with one of the most decorated military veterans in the US Navy, a former presidential candidate, well respected by republicans and democrats alike, Senator John McCain. Other problem he has is the lack of endorsement from respected business leaders, and political figures. For example, the former city of New York Mayor (R) Mr. Michael Bloomberg; the former CIA Director and Secretary of Defense under George W Bush and Obama both, Mr. Leon Panetta, none of the current USA ex- presidents. Also, one of the richest man in the world, Mr. Warren Buffet, as well as the Koch brothers, who are known for their alliances to the republican party and their “huge” contributions to all previous republican candidates. With all of these facts, I am wondering, why is that? Why these people dislike Mr. Trump? The answer may be simple or yet very complex. And brings me back again to the correlation between Mr. Trump and Chavez. Mr. Trump has an agenda which seems to be to take control the republican party. He is an egocentric narcissist, that will not take advice from anybody, because he does not trust them. He appears to be astute, but he is not as smart as you think, because if he was, he will be more careful making the statements he made and when he uses social media. He also believes that only him is right! Proven by the statements he continues to make daily, forcing members of his campaign to come up forward, to defend the "undefendable", by trying to spin his statements as it was something opposite of what really came out of his mouth, or he was misinterpreted or meant something different. Most recently his own daughter Ivanka and his son Eric have to come out to his rescue. Both were trying to defend the fact that Mr. Trump seems to think that is “ok” when a woman is being victimize of sexual harassment at a work environment, he said and I quote: “If Ivanka was harassed at work she should find another career”. He does not understand that sexual harassment is a “no go” like his son Eric recently tweeted! When trying to covered up the mess. But the point is that Mr. trump can say what he wants, so long he is not running to be president of the US, because when you are in fact running to be president, your opinion matters! Thus, these above mentioned issues, ought to tell you that there is something seriously wrong with his personality, and that he has some serious character flaws, which makes him unfit to be our next president. Finally, as conservative person that I am, I cannot stand for this. Because, Mr. Trump does not represent my values, and I am convinced that he does not represent the values of the Republican Party, I hope it doesn’t, as lately I have been wondering about my political association and sympathy with the republican party. I was even considering voting for Mr. Trump, as I do not approve Mrs. Clinton's candidacy, and like many republicans I have been disappointed with the traditional republican establishment. Until I watched Mr. Trump during the republican party convention, delivering his acceptance speech, and he said, I quote: I know how this system works, (I am wondering why he said that, especially from someone that have filed 3 bankruptcies). Is it perhaps because these bankruptcies were designed to defraud his contractors???? I leave that to the interpretation of whoever reads this post, and then he proceeded to say a Hugo Chavez statement … "I AM THE ONLY ONE" that can resolve the difficult problems we have in the US. That along reminded me of Hugo Chavez, and because of that I will not vote for him, nor I will vote on this coming election. Although I do understand that like what happened in Venezuela’s election in 1998, no voting for the establishment meant a vote for Chavez. It is the same here, not voting in this elections will be a vote for Hillary. But, it is my opinion that she is the lesser of the two evils. What a shame!

The Michael Vick Situation

Yesterday the NAACP, Georgia Chapter, went public to support Michael Vick. Here are some of their statements:

"As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football," said R.L. White, president of the group's Atlanta chapter. "We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country."

Let me start by saying that I am a Michel Vick fan. In fact, I have a couple of posters hanging on my home office's walls. However, I am also very disappointed and upset, not only as a an animal and dog lover, but also as a sport fan.

How can he be so dumb and exposed himself to this situation? Nobody cannot tell me that he just made a mistake. A mistake is being caught speeding at late hours of the night, coming home from studying film of the opposition, or from coming back from a charity event.

However, being involved in a Illegal operation which involved animal cruelty, gambling, across state lines, for over two years???? That's not a mistake, that's being a criminal and for someone like him is also being stupid. His losses will amount in excess of $80 million, when you count his salary and endorsements. My questions are Where were his support system, family and the Falcons organization? Where were the NAACP? especially when he needed them the most. He came from having nothing, he needed mentoring and guidance to stay out of trouble. Keep in mind that Michael Vick's behavior has demonstrated unusual patterns in the last two years. So this last one should not be a surprise to all of us the follow sports.

Back to the NAACP statements. I believe that those individuals that have a natural ability to play professional sports, have a social responsibility that comes with the exposure that this profession provides. In fact, I believe that it is a privilege to be a professional athlete. Michael Vick is entitled to rehabilitation, a welcome back to society, but he is not entitled to a welcome back to professional sports. He lost that privilege when he made the decision to run an illegal operation that included gambling. Michael Vick knew what the NFL rules in terms of professional conduct, and that didn’t stop him. As a sport fan, I hate the fact that he will not play football again, but as a member of this society, I am glad that he will be held accountable for his actions, and I will welcome him back when he pays his time, but not as an entertainer, playing football, he should use this experience and become a mentor to future athletes, to make sure it does not happen again. So long Michael, and good luck finding a regular job when you get out of prison.

Free Ipods

I am always skeptical of free items. Especially those offers you find on the internet. This time my curiosity got the best of me, and found myself asking me this question, what do I have to lose? Worst case I bought 4 bags of gourmet coffee for $15. Thus, the risk is very low and I think worthwhile taken.

If you have an interest in trying this, all you need to do are three things: 1) register at the site, (name, email address, your physical address all those sorts of things; 2) select one of the offers (I chose coffee), although you can buy magazines, DVDs, CDs, credit cards, etc. and finally; 3) refer the site to a friend.

The way it is supposed to work is that once you complete selecting one of their offers, and any of your referral do the same, they will ship you an iPod. You can actually select either a 30 GB or a Nano or if you prefer a $250 gift certificate at Itunes Store. Again, I will ask you what do you have to lose...

If you want to try visit ipods.freepay.com Click here: http://ipods.freepay.com/?r=28582415

Please click on the link so that I can get credit and get my free Ipod.

Thanks,
